Available spots
Service Description
Where: Allora Showgrounds 1A Darling St, Allora QLD 4362. If you'd like to understand how to use colour to bring your work to vibrant life this workshop is a great place to start. There is nothing more fun than playing with colour when you understand how to manipulate it to express the joy you feel about your subject. 3 Day Workshop Overview: Above all I aim to make my workshops a happy, relaxed and supportive environment enabling you to develop your own creative voice. Laughing is highly valued! This will be an energetic immersion into understanding how to bring your images to life and add vibrance and joy to your work. Using photos taken at the Festival, I will go through image selection, editing and gridding with Corel Paint Shop Pro in preparation for drawing onto a canvas prior to painting. From there we will jump into the joy of colour and tone/value, watching our chosen image come to life on the canvas. Subjects covered in the workshop include: - image editing, cropping, gridding and drawing using Corel Paintshop Pro - please note I have no expertise with other editing programs or Apple devices so will be unable to assist with driving or technical issues you may encounter using programs other than Paintshop Pro (which is for Windows only, not available for Apple) -understanding the importance of value/tone, -complimentary colours and how to enhance the vibrance of a painting, - creating the impression of 3D form -when and where to use hard and soft edges For advanced or students who've been with me for a while I will extend you by focusing on simplifying a series of small images in order to look at design as the next step in evolving your style. I'll bring some examples to show you. To get the jump on this workshop I will also include access to the basics of colour recorded online classes for 3 months. Materials provided: Oil (maimeri puro) or acrylic paint (please let us know your preferred medium before the class). Palette. Easel. Rags. Canvas. Turps and jar, or water jar, fine water spray if using acrylics. You need to bring: Brushes, I do have some older brushes available to use, and some will be available for purchase. Note book.
