Lets have some fun with colour, if you'd like to understand how to use colour to bring your work to vibrant life this workshop is a great place to start. There is nothing more fun than playing with colour when you understand how to manipulate it to express the joy you feel about your subject. I'll have a selection of simple but well-lit reference images to choose from, we can do a popular vote to decide on which one/s we paint, or you can bring your own inspiration. (Please no landscapes, that is a separate workshop). Subjects covered in the workshop include: -understanding the importance of value/tone, -tips on tweaking images to bring the colours out -complimentary colours and how to enhance the vibrance of a painting, - making things look 3D, -when and where to use hard and soft edges, The aim of this workshop is to share techniques and principles, having an award-winning piece is not likely. Expect to learn a lot, have a great deal of fun but maybe not produce a major masterpiece. Included in the course fee is a create art canvas approximately 12x24", or equivalent. Materials provided: Oil (maimeri puro) or acrylic paint (please let us know your preferred medium before the class). Palette. Easel. Rags. Canvas. Turps and jar, or water jar. You need to bring: Brushes, I do have some older brushes available to use, and some will be available for purchase. Note book. Laptop or ipad ( I don't know how to drive apple products so wont be able to help with any tech issues), you could print the reference image out but I find that it is inferior to working from a screen. Lunch, or you can head out to the many yummy eateries we have in Beechworth. Location: 45 Ford Street, Beechworth. The gallery will be sectioned off with an area only for students. Cancelations: Full refund of deposit up to 1 week prior to the class.
